Bijan for Laurel Lamp Co. H-927 "Setarrah" Brutalist Lamp
Catalog-documented Brutalist table lamp by Bijan for Laurel Lamp Company, listed as H-927 "Setarrah" in Laurel's 1968 catalog. The original brass sculpture — Bijan's own composition, not generic decoration — interlaces four torch-cut spoked wheels with curling brass ribbons climbing a central column, each edge flame-licked and serrated where the oxyacetylene cutter raked across raw sheet stock.
The result is light sculpture in the truest sense: an object that earns its place when the bulb is dark and earns it again when lit, with the brazed wheels throwing spoke shadows across the wall. Catalog-documented Laurel pieces sit shelf-adjacent to Curtis Jeré and Tom Greene in serious Brutalist collections and surface considerably less often than the broader pool of unsigned period work. 3-way switch, 36 inches tall, shade included (not photographed).
CONDITION Good. Lamp tested and fully functional. Black cube base shows scratching, finish wear, and prior touch-up to the lacquer; the included shade (not photographed) has damage.
