Atomic 3-Tier Fiberglass Floor Lamp — MCM Iron Tripod, 1950s
A 1950s atomic-era floor lamp built around a tall black-painted steel rod that rises from a four-leg wire tripod base — splayed hairpin uprights joined at the floor by a low triangulated stretcher — with a small polished brass collar mid-shaft and a turned brass finial at the crown. The form is pure post-war modernism: minimal linework, brass accents, exaggerated vertical proportion.
The original three-tier fiberglass shade is the centerpiece: cream parchment-style panels overlaid with the classic black "scribble" or angel-hair string pattern, edged in whip-stitched lacing at every tier. The shade glows warmly when lit, throwing the linear pattern outward in characteristic mid-century atmosphere. Operates on a three-way switch and is tested and fully functional.
CONDITION
Good and fully functional, tested. The fiberglass shade shows even cream toning consistent with age and use. The steel base and feet are scuffed with light oxidation and paint loss at the floor stretcher and one foot edge.
