Gerald Thurston for Lightolier Triennale Three-Arm Floor Lamp, 1960s
Three-arm Triennale floor lamp designed by Gerald Thurston for Lightolier, circa 1960–1965, executed in olive gray-green enamel over steel with a weighted disc base and slender central pole rising to a conical collar. Three independently adjustable directional shades — two conical and one rounded dome (eyeball) — terminate in chrome reflector caps and pivot on brass hardware, the mixed-shade configuration characteristic of Thurston's Lightolier output. Each socket switches independently or in combination, delivering the poseable, task-directed light that defined the Triennale format.
Original UL label present at the collar reading "Underwriters Laboratories, Listed Portable Lamp, Issue No. 56,02, E-23628," consistent with early-to-mid 1960s Lightolier production. All three sockets tested functional.
CONDITION
Good original unrestored condition, fully functional and tested on all three sockets. Finish wear and loss to the base with exposed metal at the central cap, light scuffing and minor enamel chipping to the shades, and oxidation to the brass pivot hardware. Shade heads may require tightening at the pivots to hold position.
