Realistic Optimus T-70 Floor Standing Tower Speakers, Pair
The Optimus T-70 (Cat. No. 40-2023) was produced by Radio Shack / Tandy Corporation and sold through RadioShack stores in the late 1980s — the era when a trip to the mall meant leaving with something that actually plugged into the wall. Each walnut-veneered tower houses a large-cone woofer and a dome tweeter, with a rear-mounted ±3dB high-frequency trim control that let owners tailor the top end without an equalizer. The chrome Realistic script badge anchors the base of each cabinet; the terminal plate is labeled Optimus T-70, Cat. No. 40-2023, 8-ohm impedance, Division of Tandy Corporation.
CONDITION
Tested. Good. Cones are intact and grilles present well with no tears or sagging. Cabinets show scuffs, scattered surface scratches, and veneer chips concentrated along edges and lower corners — most notably edge separation and chipping at the base corners of both units — as documented in the supplemental reference images.
