Nambé Studio Cast Aluminum Salt & Pepper Shakers & Candlestick, c.1995–2001
A sculptural three-piece grouping in polished cast aluminum from Nambé Studio, comprising a matched salt and pepper shaker pair alongside a taller candlestick of complementary form. The shakers carry the swelling, bottle-curved silhouette that defined Nambé's tableware language of the period, each topped with a removable disc closure. The candlestick rises in an hourglass profile, narrowing through a pinched waist before flaring to a tapered cylindrical cup. The shaker bases are marked Nambé Studio #6089 ©1995; the candlestick base is marked Nambé #6217 ©2001.
Founded in 1951 outside Santa Fe, Nambé built its reputation on a proprietary eight-metal alloy, later expanding into cast aluminum and other media under collaborations with designers including Karim Rashid and Lino Tagliapietra. The Studio line carried more sculptural, gallery-oriented forms than the standard production catalog. The reflective surfaces of all three pieces read as much as small sculpture as functional tableware.
CONDITION
Good. Surfaces are scratched throughout consistent with use — we'll leave the polishing to you. Wax residue present inside the candlestick cup from prior use. No dents or structural issues.
