Lillian Pueblo Village Miniature Sculpture on Sandstone, Signed & Dated 1989
A hand-built and hand-painted miniature pueblo village mounted to a naturally weathered sandstone matrix, signed "Lillian 89" at the lower right. The composition layers cast and modeled adobe-style dwellings — stepped rooflines, painted vigas, ladder rungs, and earth-toned doorways — across a sculpted cliffside, with a domed horno oven at the right edge and a half-moon affixed against the rust-red mesa above. A polished agate nodule tucks beneath the village ledge as a grounding accent.
The piece reads as a small narrative landscape — the kind of regional folk-art souvenir tradition that flourished across northern New Mexico through the 1980s, where stone, plaster, and acrylic stand in for canyon, adobe, and sky. Mounts to the wall or rests on the included wood display stand.
CONDITION
Good with no damage noted. Paint and applied elements are stable; the natural stone substrate carries its original weathered surface. Wood stand included.
