1974 Coinage of Belize Franklin Mint 8-Coin Proof Set
The 1974 Coinage of Belize Proof Set, struck at the Franklin Mint, comprising eight denominations from one cent through ten dollars. Each reverse features a distinct native bird of Belize, a design program executed for this country's first proof coinage. The set is presented in its original Franklin Mint blue display card with the issuing authority and mint statement printed at center, housed within the original black pebbled-finish outer folder bearing the gilt Belize coat of arms.
Denominations and reverse designs as follows: 1 Cent (Swallow-tailed Kite, scalloped-edge bronze), 5 Cents (Forked-tailed Flycatcher, bronze), 10 Cents (Long-tailed Hermit Hummingbird, cupronickel), 25 Cents (Blue-crowned Motmot, cupronickel), 50 Cents (Frigate Birds, cupronickel), $1 (Scarlet Macaws, sterling silver), $5 (Keel-billed Toucan, sterling silver), and $10 (Great Curassow, sterling silver). The obverse of each coin bears the coat of arms of Belize with the motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO.
