Singer Model 15 Sewing Machine in Walnut Cabinet with Stool, c. 1940s
A Singer straight-stitch sewing machine head mounted in a flip-top walnut veneer cabinet, with matching upholstered stool. The cast iron head retains its black crinkle finish, gold "SINGER" decals, scrollwork faceplate, and the gold Singer Manufacturing Co. medallion. The serial number AG283271 is stamped at the front of the bed, consistent with mid-1940s production at the Elizabethport, New Jersey works. A back-tack lever and stitch-length regulator sit at the pillar, with an electric motor and belt drive at the handwheel.
The cabinet is a typical Singer-style sewing table of the period: walnut veneer over hardwood with ebonized turned legs ending in ball feet, a hinged flip-top that conceals the machine bed, a left drop-leaf extension for additional work surface, and a right-side hinged cabinet door enclosing a thread-spool rack and small wooden catch-all bin. The accompanying stool has a turned-leg base in walnut finish with a padded vinyl seat top.
CONDITION
Good and fully functional; tested and operating. Cosmetic imperfections throughout — chipped veneer along the cabinet edges, paint loss to the ebonized legs and feet, and age-appropriate wear to the cabinet finish. The stool's vinyl seat shows a split along the center seam.
