Mid-Century Steel Flat File Cabinet, Five-Drawer Shallow Plan Chest
A seven-drawer steel flat file in the original putty enamel finish, the configuration architects, engineers, and shop drafters reached for when blueprints, schematics, and large-format paper needed flat storage that wouldn't fold, crease, or curl — and equally at home as a shop tool chest where the shallow, wide drawers keep hand tools, measuring equipment, and hardware organized and flat.
Flat files of this form remain in steady demand for studio and loft use — stackable, lockable in profile, and equally at home as a low coffee table, a print storage base, or a working archive. All five drawers operate smoothly on their original tracks.
CONDITION
Good with honest signs of long shop use. Scratches, dents, and scuffing throughout the painted surfaces; oxidation and paint loss to the lower drawer fronts and base with bare metal exposed; a curled piece of metal noted at the right rear bottom corner. All five drawers slide and close smoothly.
