Fenwick Eagle Graphite Two-Piece Fly Rod, 8' — Model XIV
A Fenwick Eagle graphite fly rod in two-piece configuration, blank marked "XIV," with a full-wells cork grip, anodized black aluminum downlocking reel seat with double knurled locking rings, and gloss black blank finished with gold accent wraps at the ferrule and guide stations. The Eagle series was Fenwick's mid-tier graphite line, positioned below the flagship HMG and built on the same tubular graphite construction that established Fenwick as the dominant American rod maker through the 1970s and 1980s.
Fenwick, founded in Washington State in the early 1950s, was instrumental in transitioning American fly rod production from fiberglass to graphite. The Eagle brought that graphite platform to working-water anglers at an accessible price point, and rods from this era remain capable performers on trout streams and small rivers. The "XIV" model designation encodes length and line weight per Fenwick's blank-coding system — line weight flagged below for confirmation from the physical blank.
CONDITION
Good overall with finish wear and signs of use consistent with time on the water. Light scuffing along the blank and minor wear to the cork grip; some finish loss near guide wrap stations. Blank label is peeling. Hardware operates correctly and the ferrule seats firmly.
