Bausch & Lomb "ST" Monocular Microscope, Rochester N.Y., Mid-20th Century
A Bausch & Lomb "ST" student-grade monocular microscope manufactured in Rochester, New York. The cast frame is finished in the company's characteristic gray enamel, with a fixed square stage, sub-stage condenser assembly, and a rotating nosepiece carrying two objectives in aluminum housings (one ringed in yellow, one in green). Coarse and fine focus knobs operate on either side of the arm, and the eyepiece tube accepts a standard ocular. The base is cast with the inventory mark WAKS-4414, and the stage bears two engraved owner's names — Claudia Boulton and a second hand-engraved name — suggesting a long institutional or family teaching history.
The lot includes the microscope and its attached sub-stage illuminator with cord and plug. Tested and functional: the illuminator lights and the focus knobs turn smoothly.
CONDITION
Good and fully functional. Light scuffing and surface wear throughout the gray enamel consistent with classroom or lab use. Two previous owner's names engraved into the stage edge. No case or extra accessories included.
