Welch Scientific Co. Cat. No. 8330B Analytical Centrifuge, Skokie, Illinois
Mid-century laboratory benchtop centrifuge manufactured by The Welch Scientific Co. of Skokie, Illinois. The hammertone gray cast housing supports a blue-finished six-position rotor head fitted with aluminum tube shields, the positions numbered 1 through 6 around the central spindle. Operation is by a single brass toggle switch mounted to the front identification plate, which carries the maker's mark, UL and CSA certifications, serial number 01677, and catalog number 8330B.
The Welch Scientific Co. supplied analytical and educational laboratory equipment to American schools, hospitals, and research institutions from the early twentieth century onward, with the Skokie works producing a long line of compact centrifuges intended for clinical and classroom use. The fixed-angle rotor design and modest footprint made units like the 8330B a standard fixture on teaching-lab benches through the 1960s and 1970s. Tested and fully operational; includes original power cord.
CONDITION
Good. Tested and fully operational with no remarkable damage. Light paint loss and minor chipping to the hammertone finish at the base consistent with bench use, and expected wear to the identification plate.
