Stiffel Hollywood Regency Brass & Ebonized Trophy Table Lamp, 1960s
A substantial Stiffel table lamp in the Hollywood Regency manner, executed in heavy turned brass with contrasting ebonized panels at the urn body and lower plinth. The architectural standard rises from a stepped circular base through a tiered baluster, a paneled urn dressed with applied acanthus-leaf cartouches, and a fluted column drawing the eye upward to the harp and finial. Original Stiffel hardware throughout, including the maker-marked socket and the Stiffel-branded spider on the shade. Retains its original cream silk-blend drum shade with gilt scrollwork gallery trim at the rim.
Stiffel of Chicago built its mid-century reputation on solid-brass lamps with hand-polished finishes and the kind of weight that announces quality the moment you lift one. This example reflects the company's neoclassical vocabulary at full volume — the sort of lamp that anchored a console, a foyer, or a paneled study from roughly the late 1950s through the 1970s. Standing 42" tall with shade, it reads as a statement piece rather than an accent.
CONDITION
Good and fully functional. Tested and working. Brass shows warm patina with no significant damage; ebonized panels present cleanly. Original shade retains its shape with light age-toning to the silk and intact gilt trim.
