Kenneth A. Standhardt 1988 Hand-Coiled Blackware Diamond-Carved Low Jar
A hand-coiled blackware vessel signed Kenneth A. Standhardt and dated 1988 to the underside within a concentric ring foot. The wide, compressed form carries a low shoulder and upright neck, its entire body incised with a dense diagonal diamond lattice — each facet hand-cut with consistent depth and rhythm, the matte carbon surface catching light across the geometry in a way that reads almost woven. Horizontal throwing rings finish the neck, contrasting the swept incised field below, and the interior retains visible coil construction.
The smoke-fired finish carries the soft graphite-to-charcoal gradient characteristic of reduction-fired blackware, with faint mineral blooms and tonal variation across the shoulder. The incised Standhardt signature and '88 date are legible on the base.
CONDITION
Excellent. No damage, chips, or cracks noted. All carved detail is crisp and intact throughout.
