Description

PJ Hoffman Roadrunner Oil on Canvas, Signed with Snail Mark

An original oil on stretched canvas by PJ Hoffman, capturing the Greater Roadrunner mid-stride against a soft desert horizon. The bird's iridescent black-and-bronze plumage, raised crest, and characteristic long tail are rendered with confident brushwork, while the buff-and-pale-blue background dissolves into atmospheric haze — evoking the dry heat and open ground of the Chihuahuan Desert. The composition extends the painted image around the sides of the gallery-wrapped canvas, allowing the work to hang unframed.

Signed lower left "PJ Hoffman" and accompanied by the artist's hand-drawn snail device — a recurring personal mark that appears alongside her signature on her works. The roadrunner is a fitting regional subject: New Mexico's state bird and an enduring emblem of the borderland landscape.

CONDITION

Excellent. Paint surface is clean and stable with no visible losses, abrasions, or restoration. Gallery-wrapped edges are intact.
