Mirta — Floral Courtyard with Hanging Baskets, Original Oil on Canvas
An impasto-rich oil on stretched canvas depicting a sun-warmed courtyard scene — twin terracotta baskets hang from a rough-hewn beam, spilling greenery and red blossoms over a stone sill, while a riot of yellow, coral, and peach wildflowers tumbles across the foreground cobblestones. The painter works in a loose palette-knife idiom, building thick passages of pigment that catch light across the canvas surface and lend genuine three-dimensionality to the foliage and stonework.
Signed Mirta in white at the lower right. Presented in a solid wood molded frame with a linen liner — the dark walnut tone of the frame anchors the warm earth palette of the composition and suits hacienda, Territorial, and Spanish Colonial interiors particularly well.
CONDITION
