Antique Hand-Hammered Copper Charger, A.M. Maker's Mark, Wall-Mountable
A substantial hand-hammered copper charger with a raised dished form and rolled rim, struck on the side wall with the maker's initials A.M.. The piece is dry-raised from a single sheet, with subtle planishing marks rippling across both faces and a soldered seam at the rim. A wire hanger riveted near the rim allows wall display, suggesting the piece transitioned from working vessel to decorative object at some point in its life.
Large copper chargers of this scale traditionally served as dough bowls, polenta basins, or serving platters across Mediterranean and Near Eastern kitchens. The exterior carries a warm, evenly oxidized copper tone, while the interior shows the deeper verdigris and darkened patina of long use.
