1995 USPS Legends of American Music Jazz Musicians Framed Stamp Folio
A framed presentation of the 1995 USPS Legends of American Music: Jazz Musicians stamp series, featuring ten 32-cent commemoratives honoring the architects of American jazz. The lineup includes Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Jelly Roll Morton, Coleman Hawkins, James P. Johnson, Erroll Garner, and Eubie Blake — composers, pianists, saxophonists, a trumpeter, and a bassist arranged across a printed folio backdrop of performance photography in deep blue tones.
Issued September 16, 1995, the Jazz Musicians series was designed to complement the earlier Jazz/Blues Singers issue and remains one of the most collected of the Legends of American Music sets. This example is presented in stamp-folio format, matted in cobalt blue and housed in a slim silver-tone metal frame. The verso carries the label of Robin Hutchins Gallery, Maplewood, New Jersey.
CONDITION
Very Good as shown. Stamps and folio present cleanly under glass; matting is bright with no foxing observed. Frame shows minor handling marks consistent with age.
