1960s NASA Mercury Astronauts & Rockets Exhibit Card Set of 32
Complete run of 32 black-and-white exhibit cards issued by the Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago from NASA-supplied photography, documenting the early American space program at the height of the Mercury era. The set gathers all seven Mercury astronauts — Shepard, Grissom, Glenn, Carpenter, Cooper, Schirra, and Slayton — each with a facsimile signature and printed biography on the reverse, alongside cards depicting Redstone, Atlas, Saturn C-1, and Atlas-Centaur launch vehicles, the Liberty Bell 7 recovery, ballistic capsule diagrams, and satellite imagery. Card backs carry typeset flight histories keyed to specific missions, from Freedom 7 through Faith 7.
Exhibit Supply Co. printed these penny-arcade cards for vending machines through the 1950s and 1960s, and the space-themed run captured public fascination during the Cold War space race in near-real time.
CONDITION
Very Good overall for a complete set. Cards show even toning to the kraft-stock backs, light handling wear, and minor corner softening. The "United States" launch card at lower left has a vertical crease and edge wear; other cards present clean with strong contrast in the images.
