The cap band carries the engraved MONTBLANC-MEISTERSTÜCK legend flanked by twin gold rings; the clip terminates in the signature rounded tip and the crown bears the white star emblem. The 14K gold nib is stamped 4810 / 14K / MONTBLANC / 585 — 4810 referencing the altitude in meters of Mont Blanc itself, 585 the European hallmark for 14-karat gold.

The 146 occupies the sweet spot in the Meisterstück hierarchy: larger and more substantial than the 144, more manageable than the flagship 149, with a barrel diameter and weight that suits extended writing sessions. The barrel end opposite the cap unscrews, which is the hallmark of the integrated piston-fill mechanism — the blind cap conceals the piston knob used to draw ink directly from a bottle. CONDITION

Good with signs of use throughout. The resin retains a strong gloss with light surface scratches and minor handling marks on the barrel and cap. Gold-plated trim shows light wear consistent with regular use. Box exterior shows scuffing and surface marks to the leatherette covering.
