Sterling Silver Aesthetic Movement Teaspoons, Group of 3 — Bright-Cut & Repoussé
A group of three sterling silver teaspoons in the late-Victorian and Aesthetic Movement taste, each carrying maker's marks and a sterling stamp on the reverse of the handle (see reference photos). The uppermost spoon has a beaded border along both edges with a repoussé rose cluster at the terminal, monogrammed "1903" on one and "Richards" on another of this pattern. The center spoon is bright-cut engraved with a wild-rose and fern motif across the handle face, script-monogrammed "Hazel." The third carries a bright-cut star, scroll, and foliate design at the terminal.
The engraved presentation piece is inscribed "Glendore / Christmas '91" in the bowl in gilt-washed script — a dated gift spoon from 1891. Together the three represent the personalized keepsake spoons popular across American households at the turn of the century, each engraved to mark a name, a year, or an occasion. Monograms across the lot include B, Hazel, 1903, and Richards. Total weight for the three: 58.3 grams.
CONDITION
Good overall, with tarnish, scratching, and surface spotting throughout — we'll leave the polishing to you. The center spoon's bowl is bent. Engraving and monograms remain legible.
