Domed Black & Gilt Table Lamp with Integrated Tray Base
A striking mid-century-inflected desk or side table lamp built around a deep hemispherical dome shade in matte black iron with fine radiating ridges that run apex to rim — a surface treatment that diffuses light softly and gives the shade a textile-like quality from across the room. A brass-finish hex finial caps the crown; the dome interior is finished in warm gilt, which bounces indirect light downward through the open base. The arm is a single sweeping curve of black iron rising from the rear of the base and arching forward to cradle the shade overhead.
The base doubles as a shallow gilt catch-all tray — a shallow bowl form with a matte black exterior and a brushed gold interior pan that sits inside it. The tray is fully removable, making the base functional as a valet or desk organizer independent of the lamp. An inline cord switch controls the circuit. UL-listed as a Portable Luminaire (Issue No. BM.35.256). The combination of matte black iron and warm brass-toned gilt reads equally well in mid-century modern, Hollywood Regency, and contemporary interiors.
CONDITION
Good overall; tested and confirmed working. The shade sits loosely on the arm attachment — functional but not snug. The gilt tray interior shows light scratching consistent with use.
