Corning Ware Cornflower Blue Casserole Set with Brass Cradle, 5 Pieces
A five-piece set of Corning Ware in the iconic Cornflower Blue pattern — the blue floral spray that defined American kitchens from the 1960s onward. The lot pairs two Pyroceram casseroles with their original Pyrex glass lids and a footed brass cradle stand. The smaller dish is marked P-1½-B, 1½ Qt.; the larger pair are P-1¾-B, 1¾ Qt., one marked CORNING WARE and one marked PYROCERAM, all stamped MADE IN U.S.A. The dishes carry interior measuring markers and the familiar utensil-mark surface.
Corning Ware's Pyroceram body — a glass-ceramic developed from missile nose-cone research — went straight from freezer to stovetop to oven without cracking, making it a fixture of mid-century cooking. The cradle stand, with its gold-tone wire frame, ball feet, and white handles, lets the casserole travel from oven to table as a serving piece. The lot includes two dishes, three glass lids, and the metal holder.
CONDITION
Good with age-appropriate wear throughout. Surfaces show scratching, utensil marks, and signs of use consistent with their service life; light minor staining present. Glass lids show shelf and stacking wear. Marks remain legible.
