American Arts & Crafts Leaded Stained Glass Window with Shield Roundel, 1920s
An Arts & Crafts period leaded glass window built around a central shield roundel, the medallion struck through with a bold orange diagonal bar dividing a mottled green field above from a soft teal-blue below, all framed by warm caramel slag glass. The shield sits within a ringed border of streaky cream and amber glass, suspended against a field of golden amber picket-form panels with hammered surface texture. A double border of deep honey-amber rippled glass and rectangular accent panels frames the composition, the whole assembled in traditional lead came and refitted into a clean copper-tone metal channel frame.
The vertical picket arrangement and heraldic shield motif are hallmarks of early 20th-century American domestic stained glass, the kind set into stair landings, transoms, and parlor sashes from the 1910s through the 1920s. The glass itself ranges from smooth cathedral ambers to richly mottled opalescent slag in the central elements, a mix that reads warm in daylight and glows when backlit. Horizontal orientation; ready for wall mounting or window installation.
CONDITION
Excellent with no damage across all 36 panels. Lead came is sound and the panel sits true in its frame. Minor paint splatter to the verso.
