Description

Postmodern Art Deco Revival Iron Bar Console — Chevron Bottle Cradle & Stemware

A Postmodern Art Deco Revival bar console in welded iron, circa 1980s–1990s, finished in a speckled black-and-silver hammered texture that gives the frame the look of quarried granite. The upper apron carries a geometric frieze of interlocking diamonds; beneath it, a suspended stemware rack of formed iron hooks holds glasses inverted by the stem. A lower zigzag stretcher runs the length of the piece and doubles as a bottle cradle, seating three bottles on their sides. The clear glass top is inset and removable.

This is a fully functional bar piece, not merely a decorative console — stemware overhead, bottles below, and a display surface on top. The chevron-and-diamond vocabulary places it squarely in the Deco Revival wave of the period, when Art Deco geometry was widely reinterpreted in iron decorator furniture. That same angular patterning reads comfortably against New Mexico interiors, making it a natural fit for an entryway or bar corner in a Mesilla Valley home.

CONDITION

Good with light signs of use. Minor imperfections and scratches to the glass top and a visual irregularity within the glass. The iron frame and finish present well throughout; structure is sound and the glass sits securely in place.
