Bushnell Banner 7x35 Extra Wide Angle InstaFocus Binoculars with Case, 1973
A pair of Bushnell Banner 7x35 porro-prism binoculars with the InstaFocus center-lever focus system and Extra Wide Angle optics rated at 578 ft. at 1,000 yds. The barrels wear a textured black leatherette wrap with gloss-black metal endplates lettered BUSHNELL BANNER — FULLY COATED OPTICS. Serial C14937 and SMC / JAPAN are stamped on the hinge cap, confirming Japanese manufacture. A factory PASSED inspection sticker survives near the focus lever — still intact after five decades.
The set comes complete with its original brown leatherette field case — black-piped, buckle-latched, shoulder-strapped, and marked Bushnell in white on the flap — along with the paired rubber Bushnell-embossed objective caps and a black leather neck strap. A "73" inked on the case base dates the outfit to 1973. The 7x35 wide-angle format was Bushnell's workhorse birding and sporting glass of the era, valued for its bright, generous field of view at an accessible price point.
CONDITION
Good with signs of use throughout. Optics are clean and clear. The rubber eyecups show fading and softening consistent with age. The case retains its structure with light surface scuffing and a small mark to the base panel.
