Mid-Century Chrome & Vinyl Kitchen Step Stool Chair, Yellow Seat
A classic 1950s convertible kitchen step-stool chair in tubular chrome with a padded yellow vinyl seat and backrest. The design flips between a tall kitchen chair and a two-tier folding step stool, with black-painted wooden treads mounted to bent chrome supports. The seat back is secured to the frame with exposed rivets, and the whole piece rides on capped tubular legs.
These space-saving stools were fixtures of postwar American kitchens, letting the cook reach a high cabinet and then double as seating. This example is unmarked and shows genuine age throughout, making it a good candidate for restoration or industrial-look styling.
CONDITION
Fair, offered for restoration. The chrome frame shows heavy rust and oxidation across the legs and supports. The vinyl backrest is cracked and split with old tape repairs; the wooden steps are worn through the black paint. Structurally intact but in need of refurbishment.
