Life-Size Iron Agave Sculpture — Free-Standing Garden Form with Aged Patina
A full-scale iron agave sculpture built up from cut and shaped sheet-metal leaves, each blade tapering to a fine spined tip and radiating from a central spike in the manner of a mature century plant. The leaves carry a naturalistic surface — brushed grain, serrated margins, and a mottled finish that shifts from warm rust-brown at the tips to soft verdigris green toward the base. The whole form rises from a low circular iron base fitted with a webwork of struts and irregular plate sections that anchor the piece upright without a planter.
Standing six feet tall, the sculpture reads as a piece of garden statuary meant to hold its ground among real plantings or stand alone as a sculptural accent. The oxidized iron surface and layered patina are the result of outdoor display and give the form its convincing botanical color range. Free-standing and self-supporting, it works equally on a patio, in a courtyard, or as an interior focal point.
CONDITION
Good. No remarkable damage. Surface shows signs of outdoor display with an established patina — oxidation, rust tones, and green verdigris across the leaves and base, consistent with the piece's weathered finish. Structurally sound and standing squarely on its base.
