A 1974 Fleet Wing Falcon 184 fiberglass runabout, built in Cocoa, Florida, and powered by an OMC Stringer stern drive with the SX-245 engine — a 350 cubic-inch (5.7L) Chevrolet-based marine V8 rated at approximately 245 horsepower. Named “Coqui II” by its owners and molded into the transom, the boat presents in a refreshed white finish with blue striping over the original blue vinyl interior, and rides on a matching-year 1974 tandem-axle trailer. Both the boat and the trailer carry clean New Mexico titles, free of liens, held in hand.

This is a long-term family-owned example accompanied by an unusually complete paperwork trail: the original Fleet Wing Falcon 184 sales brochure, a Marine Raider boat cover manual, a 1990 Idea Development invoice for a Whale Tail hydrofoil stabilizer, and a typed list of included extras. Together they document decades of active care and period upgrades on a boat that has clearly been kept as a prized possession rather than a throwaway.

The consignor reports the boat was mechanically overhauled but has not been run or water-tested since; scope and date of that work are not documented to us. Running, shifting, and drive function are therefore unverified by our team and are disclosed as such. This listing is sold as-is, and we strongly encourage a full inspection and sea trial before bidding.

Service and History:

This Falcon 184 has been in family stewardship long enough to have accumulated a paperwork trail most vintage runabouts of this era have long since lost. The original sales brochure remains with the boat; a 1990 dealer invoice documents the installation of a Whale Tail stabilizer, an upgrade still present on the drive; and the consignor reports a mechanical overhaul was performed on the boat, though scope and date are not documented to our team. The boat has not been run or water-tested since that work, and running condition is disclosed as unverified.

Buyers familiar with OMC Stringer drives should verify a few generation-specific points at inspection, all of which are standard on any boat of this vintage: the electric-shift system (shift switch and clutch springs are common service items), the upper and lower gearcases, and especially the U-joint and exhaust bellows and the transom seal, which harden and crack with age and are the usual source of water intrusion on these drives. The gimbal bearing requires regular greasing. Factory OMC stern-drive parts are no longer produced (OMC ceased operations around 2000); parts are now sourced through specialty rebuilders on a new/used/aftermarket basis, and buyers should factor sourcing into any refurbishment plan. NHTSA recall lookups do not apply to watercraft; U.S. Coast Guard boating-safety recalls and any OMC service bulletins may be verified independently prior to purchase.
