Time-Life "The Old West" Series, 19-Volume Leatherette Set — Remington Cover
A near-complete run of Time-Life Books' "The Old West" series, published in Alexandria, Virginia across the 1970s and early 1980s. Each volume is bound in brown leatherette with an embossed Western tooled-pattern cover — rope borders, tooled florals, and a rising-sun motif — with gilt spine lettering and gilt banding. The front-cover medallion carries a color reproduction of Frederic Remington's The Cowboy (1902), a mounted rider at full gallop. Spines read THE OLD WEST at the head and TIME LIFE BOOKS at the foot.
The subscription series documented American frontier history through period photography and artwork. The Spanish West and Texans volumes carry direct regional relevance for New Mexico and Western Americana collectors, and the Remington cover art gives the unified set broad decorative appeal on a shelf or display.
CONDITION
Good with signs of use. Leatherette shows light rubbing and handling wear at spine ends and edges; gilt banding and lettering remain bright across the set. Bindings are sound and volumes present well as a matched display run.
