Ekornes Stressless Admiral Large Leather Recliner & Ottoman, Brandy Paloma

Norwegian-made Ekornes Stressless reclining lounge chair with matching ottoman, upholstered in Brandy Paloma full-aniline leather over a stained laminated bentwood base. The original shipping label identifies the set as the Admiral High model in size Large, ordered August 1997. The chair swivels and reclines on the Stressless Plus system, with the tension-adjustment knob marked Stressless / Ekornes at the base. The manufacturer's label reads Ekornes, Item 11315209431, No. 648, Made in Norway.

Ekornes introduced the Stressless recliner in 1971, and the Admiral remains one of its flagship models — distinguished by the high pillow-back, the counterbalanced floating headrest that follows the sitter's movement, and the sculptural ring base. Paloma is Ekornes's full-aniline cowhide: it takes on warmth and character with use, and the cognac Brandy colorway pairs well with the honey-toned bentwood base. The matching ottoman glides on its own ring base and is included in this lot.

CONDITION

Good with signs of honest use and wear. The leather remains soft and supple overall, though several areas show surface abrasion, finish loss, and dry crazing at the seat-to-cushion seams and along the ottoman edges. Reclining and swivel mechanisms are sturdy and functional; the chair is comfortable and structurally sound.
