Antique Cast Iron Flower Basket & Cornucopia Doorstops, Pair
A pair of early cast iron figural doorstops in the flat-back manner popular through the 1920s and 1930s. The taller of the two is a flowering cornucopia — a fluted cream horn spilling pink roses, buds, and green foliage across an open pierced casting, mounted on a rectangular plinth base. The smaller is a classic flower basket with bow handle, its woven base packed with roses and mixed blooms in pink, blue, and cream, topped by a tied ribbon bow. Both retain substantial original hand-painted polychrome, now softened by age and chipping to the high points.
CONDITION
Fair. Both pieces show chipping, rust and oxidation, and finish wear/loss consistent with age and use throughout the raised detail. The larger cornucopia piece has an old repair. Original paint remains well-distributed across both castings with strong color retention in the recesses.
