Regula 8-Day Black Forest Owl Cuckoo Clock — Carved Linden, Hoot Chime
A Black Forest wall clock in the classic chalet form, hand-carved from linden wood with a deeply rendered maple-leaf border and a pair of figural owls perched below the dial. The carved shingle roof, log-cut framing, and paneled facade follow the mid-tier Black Forest production tradition of the 1980s–1990s. The dial is marked "Made in Germany" with applied Roman numerals and brass serpentine hands. What sets this example apart is its call: this is an owl variant that hoots on the half hour rather than issuing the standard cuckoo — a deliberate design choice that narrows its field and draws specialty buyers.
Power comes from a confirmed Regula eight-day, weight-driven chain movement (Baden-Württemberg, Germany), stamped "Made in Germany" on the movement plate and running on twin cast iron pinecone weights marked "1500." The eight-day duration means winding only once a week — a practical edge over one-day movements. The clock runs well and easily and was serviced at The Clock Manor of El Paso, whose retail label remains on the case back.
CONDITION
Very Good and in running order. Minor scuffs to the verso, difficult to see, with no visible imperfections to the carved front or figures. Confirmed working and recently serviced; hoots on the half hour.
