Franciscan Desert Rose Nesting Mixing Bowl Set, Gladding McBean, 3 Pieces
A graduated set of three Franciscan Desert Rose nesting mixing bowls in the pattern's familiar hand-painted pink wild rose, green foliage, and brown branchwork over a warm cream ground, each finished with a brown-banded rim. The undersides carry the Gladding, McBean & Co. backstamp reading "Made in California U.S.A. — Hand Decorated — Oven-Safe," dating these to the pattern's California production period before manufacture moved overseas.
Introduced in 1941, Desert Rose became one of the most widely produced American dinnerware patterns of the twentieth century, and the mixing bowls are among the more sought-after utilitarian forms in the line. This trio nests together for storage and covers everyday mixing, prep, and serving duties. The hand-painted decoration means no two flowers sit exactly alike.
CONDITION
Very Good with no damage. Glaze is bright and the hand-painted decoration remains crisp across all three bowls; light surface wear consistent with age and gentle use.
