Franciscan Desert Rose Bowls & Divided Serving Dish, 7 Pieces
A seven-piece grouping of Franciscan Desert Rose hand-decorated dinnerware in the pattern's familiar cream ground with hand-painted pink wild roses, green foliage, and a brown twig-and-thorn rim. The lot comprises four soup or cereal bowls, two round serving bowls in graduated sizes, and one oval divided vegetable dish. Each piece carries the impressed scalloped edge and glossy earthenware glaze that defined the line.
Introduced by Gladding, McBean & Co. in 1941, Desert Rose became one of the best-selling dinnerware patterns in American history. Pieces here bear the "Franciscan — Made in California U.S.A. — Hand Decorated — Gladding, McBean & Co. — Oven Safe" backstamp, placing production before the company's later relocation of manufacturing overseas.
CONDITION
Excellent with no damage. Glaze is bright and the hand-painted decoration is crisp throughout.
