Franciscan Desert Rose 6-Piece Serving Group with Lidded Sugar
A six-piece serving group in Franciscan Desert Rose, the pink wild-rose pattern on warm ivory earthenware that Gladding, McBean & Co. introduced in 1941 and produced for decades. The group brings together a large water pitcher, a matching creamer, a lidded sugar bowl with the signature rosebud finial, and a pair of rosebud salt and pepper shakers molded as furled pink buds. Handles are sculpted and glazed to mimic thorned rose branches, a hallmark of the line's hand-decorated relief work.
The underside carries the "Franciscan / Made in California U.S.A. / Hand Decorated / Gladding, McBean & Co. / Oven-Safe" backstamp along with an impressed number, dating the pieces to the American production era before overseas manufacture. Desert Rose remains among the most collected American dinnerware patterns of the twentieth century, and this grouping covers the core beverage-and-condiment service in coordinated, ready-to-use form.
CONDITION
Excellent. No damage noted across all six pieces; glaze is bright and the hand-painted decoration is crisp throughout.
