Franciscan Desert Rose Luncheon Plates, Set of 12 — California Earthenware
A set of twelve Franciscan Desert Rose luncheon plates, the pattern introduced in 1941 and produced for decades in California. Each plate carries the hand-painted embossed border of pink wild roses, green foliage, and a brown twig rim over a warm cream ground — the raised relief and hand-tinted color that made Desert Rose one of the most enduring American dinnerware patterns of the twentieth century.
Backstamps across the set include the earlier "Franciscan Made in California" mark and the later "Franciscan Earthenware / Made in U.S.A. / Oven Safe/Color Fast" Interpace mark, indicating a set assembled across production periods. The naturalistic rose motif and scalloped, twig-edged rim give the pattern its recognizable country-table character; twelve matched luncheon plates make a practical serving count for regular use or display.
CONDITION
Excellent. No chips, cracks, or damage. Light surface wear consistent with age and use across the set.
