Barbara A. Wood "Dark Eyes" Signed Limited Edition Lithograph, 294/975
A characteristic figure study by Barbara A. Wood, this color lithograph titled "Dark Eyes" centers on a woman with a dark bob, drawn eyelids, and split flesh tones of rose and blush, her face partly hidden behind a sweeping mauve fan rendered in loose, gestural brushwork. The composition trades detail for mood — a hallmark of Wood's style, where spontaneity and color carry the emotional weight over line. Pencil signed Barbara A. Wood at lower right and numbered 294/975 at lower left.
Wood, a Columbus, Ohio native who built her career in California, studied at the Art Students' League in New York and won a scholarship to the Traphagen Art Institute. Her paintings and prints reached a wide collector base through the 1980s and 90s, with named collections including Mickey Rooney, Dick Van Dyke, and Hugh Hefner. This edition was produced and distributed by Windsor Art Products, Inc. of Pico Rivera, California, whose verso label identifies the work as "Dark Eyes." Presented in a gilt-tone wood frame with triple matting behind glass.
