Aspen Furniture Oak Six-Drawer Dresser with Cedar-Lined Top Drawers, 1992
A low-slung six-drawer oak dresser by Aspen Furniture, Inc., built in the pared-down casework style popular through the late 1980s and early 1990s. The case is solid oak with strongly figured grain across the drawer fronts, waterfall-rounded top edges, and integrated finger-recess pulls worked directly into the upper lip of each drawer — no applied hardware. Six drawers run in two stacked banks of three, each built with dovetail construction and riding on side glides. The top drawers are cedar-lined.
The maker's paper label survives on the case, printed Aspen Furniture, Inc. with a stamped ship date of 10/19/92 and stock number 51982-135. The back is unfinished, consistent with a piece meant to sit against a wall. Heavy and sturdy in hand, it suits a bedroom or entry, and the clean rectilinear form reads well in both traditional and transitional rooms.
CONDITION
Very Good with age-appropriate wear. Structurally sturdy and heavy; all six drawers operate on their glides. Minor surface marks consistent with use. Back is unfinished by design.
