Mid-Century American Walnut High-Back Lounge Chair, Jacobean Floral Tapestry
A high-back upholstered lounge chair in the library or fireside form, American, of the 1950s through early 1960s. The solid walnut frame carries tapered, molded front legs terminating in silvered-brass roller casters; the rear legs are plain tapered square-section walnut without casters. The diamond-tufted back with button detail sits behind rolled arms and a removable seat cushion, all dressed in a gold-ground Jacobean-style floral tapestry — original fabric throughout.
The underside retains its original upholsterer's label: J. J. Vetick Upholstering & Slip Covers, 171 Stockton St., Hightstown, New Jersey — a shop that closed in the 1960s, placing this chair's covering firmly within that window. Original period upholstery in good condition is worth noting — it spares a buyer the cost of a reupholstery job and remains ready to use as found.
CONDITION
Good and sturdy, comfortable, with signs of use. Some wear to the legs including minor scuffs and finish loss at the feet. Upholstery is in good condition with no significant damage noted. Front casters are intact and functional.
