Description

Handcrafted Iron & Ceramic Crosses – Turquoise, Feathers, USA

This unique pair of handcrafted wall crosses embodies the rich tradition of Southwestern folk art. Both pieces originate from Bear Track Gallery in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, established by the late artist Barbara Kay Craig Boyd (1944–2021). Barbara was renowned for her pottery and folk art creations, which she showcased at various craft fairs across New Mexico.

The ceramic cross features a vibrant green glaze, adorned with natural feathers and turquoise chips arranged in a floral motif. A label on the back confirms its origin from Bear Track Gallery. The iron cross boasts a rustic finish, stylized fleur-de-lis terminals, and a central polished turquoise stone, accented with metal rivets. It bears a "Made in U.S.A." label on the reverse.

These crosses are not only decorative but also serve as meaningful representations of regional craftsmanship and cultural heritage. They would make a distinctive addition to any home, office, or collection.

Condition:
Both pieces are in good condition with no noted damage. The ceramic cross maintains its glossy finish, with securely attached feathers and minimal edge wear. The iron cross exhibits slight patina and minor surface marks consistent with its rustic aesthetic.

Size:

  • Ceramic Cross: 9½ x 6½ inches
  • Iron Cross: 12 x 8 inches
