Description

Marshall Pottery 4-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Lid – Texas, c. Mid-20th Century

This vintage 4-gallon stoneware crock with lid was crafted by Marshall Pottery Inc. of Marshall, Texas, a company renowned for its durable utilitarian wares. The crock features a warm tan glaze accented by two cobalt-blue stripes encircling the body. An impressed oval maker's mark reads: "Marshall Pottery, Inc / 4 / Marshall, Texas." The matching lid is marked with a simple blue “4” on its underside.

Hand-crafted in sturdy salt-glazed stoneware, this piece exhibits clean, traditional lines with a wide rolled rim and a flat-bottomed design. Its robust construction and classic design make it suitable for both decorative display and practical use, such as fermentation or storage.

Condition:
In good condition overall, with age-appropriate wear. Displays faint surface crazing and minor scuffing to the lid. The glaze around the base rim shows roughness and some minor abrasions consistent with handling and age. No cracks or structural damage noted.

Size:
With lid: 12 1/2" (H) x 12" (W) x 12" (D)
Capacity: 4 gallons
