This tall and eye-catching lantern is a handcrafted Mexican Moravian star, featuring steel-framed glass panels with a hinged door for candle insertion. Surrounded by a circular laurel wreath in embossed tin, the star is mounted on a turned wood column and supported by a scrolled iron base. The piece separates into three components—star lantern, column, and base—for ease of handling.
Made using traditional Mexican craftsmanship, Moravian star lanterns are known for their folk-art charm and structural elegance. This version stands out with its full freestanding format and neoclassical wreath accent, blending rustic and formal influences beautifully.
Condition:
In good condition, exhibiting some wear consistent with age and use. There is visible wax residue and dust within the star compartment. All glass panels are intact, and the structure remains stable. Minor surface imperfections are present, as shown in the photos.
