Description

Clayton Pond Bicentennial Serigraph — 1975 Pop Art Poster, 40"x28" Framed

Serigraph poster by Clayton Pond (American, b. 1941), signed in the plate and dated 1975. Published by Editions Ltd. Gallery, Indianapolis, IN, this vibrant Pop Art work was created for the United States Bicentennial (1776–1976). The design features Pond’s hallmark use of bold color fields and crisp outlines, here presenting a stylized fan set within an exuberant, patterned interior. Playful yet iconic, the work embodies the celebratory spirit of 1970s American Pop Art.

Presented in its original aluminum frame under glass. A strong example of Pond’s colorful and witty visual language, this Bicentennial piece is both a collectible artifact of the 1976 celebrations and a striking addition to modern and contemporary collections.

Condition

Good overall. Frame shows scratches, surface wear, and corrosion along the bottom edge. Glass is dirty with debris visible behind it. The serigraph itself remains vibrant, though the sheet is slightly wavy in the frame.

Artist Biography

Clayton Pond (b. 1941) is an American painter and printmaker associated with the Pop Art movement. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Pond became known for his flat, saturated color and sharply defined outlines, transforming everyday objects into bold graphic icons. His works have been exhibited widely and are represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Pond’s Bicentennial serigraphs highlight his ability to merge American cultural motifs with the playful visual language of Pop Art, making them highly sought by collectors of mid-20th century printmaking.
