Mystery Lot of 250+ Vintage 78 RPM Records — Decca, Victor, MGM, Columbia, Capitol & More
A bulk consignment of 250+ vintage 78 RPM shellac records spanning the 1940s and 1950s golden era of American popular music. Confirmed labels in the lot include Decca, Victor (His Master's Voice), MGM, Columbia, Capitol, and Abbott Record Co. (Hollywood), with original paper sleeves from several majors present throughout the stack.
Confirmed artist sightings include Bing Crosby ("It's the Same Old Shillelagh" with The Jesters and Bob Haggart, Decca 23786; "I'd Rather Be Me" with John Scott Trotter, Decca 18690), Mel Tormé ("Gone with the Wind," MGM 10584), The Jesters ("You Are My Sunshine," Decca 3401), Artie Shaw and His Orchestra ("Jumpin' on the Merry-Go-Round," Victor 20-1612), Guy Mitchell with Mitch Miller ("Sparrow in the Tree Top," Columbia 39190), and Carolyn Bradshaw with the Louisiana Hayride Band on the scarce Abbott label (141). The balance of the 250+ stack has not been individually catalogued — buyer discovers the rest. Sold as a single lot.
CONDITION
Good overall as a group, with surface marks, light scratches, and sleeve wear consistent with discs of this age and storage. Individual playback grades will vary across the 250+ records and have not been tested disc-by-disc. Sold as-is by the lot.
