Makita 2414 14" Portable Cut-Off Saw with Vermont American Abrasive Wheel
A Makita Model 2414 portable abrasive cut-off saw, the workhorse 14-inch chop saw that has lived in metal shops, fab shops, and home garages since the 1980s. Powered by a 13-amp universal motor running at 3,800 RPM on 115V AC/DC, it accepts a 5/8" arbor wheel and handles structural steel, rebar, conduit, threaded rod, and angle iron with the kind of brute simplicity that keeps these saws working decades after their plastic-bodied successors have died. The cast aluminum motor housing, screw-clamp vise with quick-release lever, adjustable fence, and spring-loaded return arm are all present and operating.
Fitted with a Vermont American bonded abrasive wheel that is heavily worn and due for replacement. The base plate carries the polychrome paint splatter and grinding scars of long service — red, white, and green overspray on the gray cast frame, oxidation on the working surfaces. Tested and fully functional per staff inspection; the saw runs and cuts as intended.
