1970s Brass-Mounted Pine Tubular Étagère with Smoked Glass Shelves
A tall four-tier display étagère in the late 1970s campaign-revival idiom, built from solid pine turned into thick tubular members and joined at every corner with polished brass capitals. The continuous outer frame bends in a single sweep at top and bottom, giving the case its signature soft-cornered silhouette, while three smoked bronze glass shelves float between the uprights and a solid wood platform anchors the base. The brass sleeves at the eight corners and along the curved transitions read as architectural detail rather than ornament — a nod to the tubular-brass aesthetic popularized by designers like Mastercraft and Milo Baughman during the period.
Unmarked, but the construction language — heavy turned pine, brass corner mounts, tinted glass — places it firmly in the American Hollywood Regency / Campaign Modern wave of the late 1970s. The open back and sides make it equally suited to a wall placement or as a room divider, with the bronze glass tempering reflections from whatever is displayed.
CONDITION
Good and sturdy overall with signs of use. Light surface scratches and scuffs across the pine, most notable on the top platform and at the base. Brass corner mounts show patination and minor surface wear. Glass shelves are intact. Frame is solid and stable.
