Rusticos Sierra Solid Pine Ox Yoke–Back Side Chairs, Pair
A matched pair of solid pine side chairs in the New Mexican hacienda tradition, each built to the colonial-revival vocabulary by Rusticos Sierra. The tall stiles extend above a broad arched crest panel in the classic ox yoke form, framing a vertical slat mid-back and a flat plank seat. Below the seat, shaped front legs with crescent cutouts echo the serpentine apron, adding visual movement to an otherwise rectilinear frame. H-stretchers tie the base front-to-back and side-to-side, keeping the structure square under load. Construction is solid stock throughout — through-tenon joinery at the stile tops, square shoulders at the seat rails, and the genuine weight that distinguishes workshop pine from dimensional lumber dressed up with stain.
Practical and durable, these chairs are well-suited to a dining table, kitchen, or covered portal.
CONDITION
Good. Finish wear and loss throughout, consistent with use; frames remain sturdy with tight joinery. Minor variations between the two chairs are present, as expected with hand-finished workshop production.
