Pair of Cobalt Blue Glazed Ceramic Jardinière Planters
A pair of cobalt blue glazed ceramic planters in the classic fishbowl jardinière form, with rolled rims, rounded bellies, and tapered foot rings. The deep cobalt glaze shows allover fine crazing — a network of hairline lines through the surface that catches the light and gives the glaze visual depth. Interiors and bases are finished in an unglazed buff stoneware. Both pieces are unmarked.
The form draws directly from Chinese export jardinières long produced for Western garden and conservatory use, and the silhouette remains a workhorse for indoor plants, dry arrangements, or pedestal display. The graduated sizes work well as a nesting pair or placed apart for visual rhythm.
CONDITION
Good. Allover fine crazing to the cobalt glaze consistent with age and outdoor use; no chips or remarkable damage noted. Interiors show soil residue and staining from prior planting use.
