1995 USPS Comic Strip Classics Full Sheet, 20 × 32¢ Stamps
Full mint sheet of twenty 32-cent commemorative stamps issued by the United States Postal Service in 1995 celebrating a century of American newspaper comic strips. The sheet honors the medium from its 1895 origin with Richard Outcault's The Yellow Kid through mid-century favorites, each stamp reproducing original strip artwork by the creator. Header panel features the bold "COMIC STRIP CLASSICS" title with a Krazy Kat vignette; the verso of each stamp carries a brief printed history of the strip.
Titles included: The Yellow Kid, Katzenjammer Kids, Little Nemo in Slumberland, Bringing Up Father, Krazy Kat, Rube Goldberg's Inventions, Toonerville Folks, Gasoline Alley, Barney Google, Little Orphan Annie, Popeye (Thimble Theatre), Blondie, Dick Tracy, Alley Oop, Nancy, Flash Gordon, Li'l Abner, Terry and the Pirates, Prince Valiant, and Brenda Starr. Plate position marker and USPS copyright present in the selvage.
